This was a House that I built for my son Max in the city of Holyoke Massachusetts. After years of house hunting without any success, my son Max bought a small piece of land in Holyoke. With the smallest of budgets and access to discounted building materials through  "Eco Building Bargains", (the non profit that my son co-managed in Springfield Ma.) I spent seven months on an unpaid building journey. Max and I got the chance to work together for as much time as he could get off, and many friends, family, and work colleagues both donated time and discounted work to make this happen on time and budget. This project was a deep dive into creative use of resources, utilizing discounted materials  and a lot of thinking outside the box to create an affordable first home for my son that meets all the current stringent energy requirements of the Massachusetts "Stretch Code"
